Hypertension: Manage High Blood Pressure

Health tips to controlling high blood pressure.

5. Cut back on stress

Stress or anxiety can temporarily increase blood pressure. Although the role stress plays in blood pressure is still debatable, taking steps to manage stress won't hurt your health.

If you find yourself under stress regularly, you need to identify your stressors, try to reduce them. If there is no way out of the stressful situation, learn how to cope in a healthier way. Try relaxation techniques such as taking breaks for deep-breathing exercises, taking up yoga and meditation, getting a massage, or see a counsellor if professional help is needed.
