Good fats (i.e. monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats) actually help reduce the 'bad' LDL cholesterol levels and decrease the risk of coronary heart disease. Rich sources include oils like olive, corn and canola oils, nuts and oily fish like salmon and sardines. So eat more of these and less of red meat and food containing vegetable shortening as they contain the bad fats (saturated and trans fats), which have the opposite effect. |  |  |
