  • Invite your friends to your house for Christmas celebrations. When you're the hostess, you are in control. Whip up healthy low-fat dishes, including skinless chicken dishes, low-fat cheeses, fresh salads, and yogurt dips.

  • Alcoholic drinks can rack up the calorie count pretty quickly, so limit your consumption. If you're planning to drink alcohol, alternate each alcoholic drink with a glass of water or soda water to help reduce your calorie intake.

  • At the parties, get your plate filled up, then move away from the food table and eat. Hovering by a table loaded with your favorite foods is plain torture and can make it harder for you not to go for that second helping (or fourth!)
